door knobs with out them we cant open doors unless you pull or leave them open you wouldn't be able to even lock your front door or any other door without them heres the reason why your door knobs wont work and need to be replaced won't open even if the lock is off by turning The knob and it just spins around not doing anything this  mean that the latch is cracked or completely broken and need another one unless you have the metal one they last longer than the plastic ones  much stronger hold
